In 2015, Leiann Stephenson discovered the therapeutic power of cannabis when a dear friend and cancer survivor shared how the plant had supported her healing. Shortly after, Leiann used a CBD topical to soothe her own morning joint stiffness. The undeniable relief changed everything she thought she knew about plant-based wellness.
But as she explored the emerging CBD market, Leiann encountered an industry that felt like the “Wild West”—unregulated, confusing, and lacking trustworthy brands. Rather than accept that environment, she knew a higher standard was possible.

Leiann didn’t just want to find better products; she had the exact background needed to source them. Leveraging over 30 years of experience in corporate operations and logistics, she brought a no-nonsense, systems-driven approach to Oregon’s cannabis market in 2016. After successfully launching Hempress Wholesale in 2021 to connect premium B2B brands with retailers, Hempress Wellness was born in the Spring of 2023 to bring highly-vetted, trusted products directly to consumers.
